Canvas

In this limited line of printed garments, we partner with emerging and established artists to turn cotton T-shirts into canvases for creative experssion, honoring a tradition almost as old as the T-shirt itself.

George Byrne

For the third edition of our Canvas series, we have invited LA-based photographic artist George Byrne to reinterpret our iconic Cotton T-Shirt in his signature style.

Byrne's work blends modernist abstraction with urban realism, creating both familiar and surreal compositions; hovering in the liminal space between what is and what is not.

“This project in Copenhagen was a great opportunity to be thrown into a city I'd never been to and knew nothing about. What I found was a city of real contrast. On the one hand, you have this beautiful historic architecture and, on the other, this world-famous elegant minimal modern design. So, oscillating between those two spaces was interesting to find what I was looking for.”

“The color and composition in all of George's work are both boldly precise and playfully imaginative, blending reality and fiction without ever drawing a clear line between the two. In George's mind, everything physical can be disassembled, rearranged, and reassembled at will. And if something's missing from reality, he simply adds it himself. An old, cracked—but still beautiful—movie theater is suddenly restored to its most vivid self, while a gas station north of Copenhagen, a symbol of Danish modernism, now sprouts palm trees—because why not?”

“It’s been my privilege to contribute to a project that channels creativity toward something meaningful. Teaming up with Son of a Tailor to support CalFund’s wildfire relief in my home state California has been incredibly rewarding—the fact that they led the charge and are donating 100% of proceeds is both generous and inspiring.”
